PURPOSE:To prevent a short circuit of the power supply, etc. of an IC (identification) card input device by deciding the propriety of an inserted IC card and connecting an electrical contact to a read/write circuit of the card only when the propriety of the card is decided. CONSTITUTION:When an IC card 2 is put into an IC card input device 1, the card 2 is shifted by a carrying device to a position where a contact 21 of the card 2 has a contact with a contact 14. Then the impedance is measured between contacts of the contact 21 having a contact with the contact 14. When a regular IC card is decided from said measurement of impedance, a changeover switch 12 is switched to a read/write circuit of the card 2. While the card 2 is rejected to the outside of an IC card input device when no regular card is decided. |
