PURPOSE:To provide the titled composition capable of giving room temperature- drying coating film of high water resistance, comprising aqueous polymer dispersion capable of forming dry film of high water resistance and an alkali salt aqueous solution of carboxyl group-contg. copolymer capable of forming dry coating film with high water repellency. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition can be obtained by incorporating (A) 100pts.wt., on a dry-basis, of polymer aqueous dispersion capable of forming highly water-resistant dry film with (B) 0.5-10pts.wt. an alkali salt aqueous solution of carboxyl group-contg. copolymer with [eta]<=0.3 (measured at 25 deg.C in the form of DMF solution) capable of forming highly water-repellent dry coating film. The polymer of the component (B) is pref. derived from (1) 6-30wt% of an unsaturated carboxylic acid consisting mainly of <=10C monobasic acid such as acrylic acid and (2) 94-70wt% of a monomer consisting mainly of hydrophobic radically polymerizable unsaturated compound such as styrene.
