Compounds of the formula in which R<1> is C7-20 alkyl or C7-20 alkenyl containing 1 to 3 double bonds, R<2> and R<3> are each hydrogen and X is C1-6 alkylene; and salts thereof are leukotriene antagonists. Compounds of formula (I) in which R<2> and R<3> are each hydrogen or a protecting group are also described and are useful as intermediates in the preparation of the pharmaceutically active compounds.
