PURPOSE:A gasoline composition having improved preventing effect on smoking of an ignition plug of gasoline engine, obtained by blending a specific gasoline fraction with a specific amount of an alkaline earth metal sulfonate. CONSTITUTION:(A) A gasoline fraction having >=35vol% aromatic group content, having 85-125 deg.C distillation fraction of 50% is blended with (B) 0.01-10wt% (preferably 0.05-0.5wt%) alkaline earth metallic salt (e.g., extremely basic calcium petroleum sulfonate, etc.) of an alkyl aromatic sulfonic acid having usually 100-700mol.wt., to give the aimed gasoline composition.
