PURPOSE:To attain the general-purpose properties as well as the high-speed processing without producing programs individually in response to a trouble area, by performing such connection that the output of at least one of plural reasoning mechanisms is used as the input of another reasoning mechanism. CONSTITUTION:A control part 20 of a reasoning mechanism 2A sends the input data of an input interface 21 to a processor 22 to start a reasoning program 24 and selects a rule coincident with the input data out of the rules 25. Then the interim findings are delivered to a short-period memory 26 and the searching for answers is proceeded successively. The end of the processing is informed to the part 20 after the final answer is obtained. The part 20 delivers the answer data to a reasoning mechanism 2B via an output interface 23. The mechanism 2B delivers the gathering of the input values to an output device 3 after converting it into the gathering of other values. Thus a general-purpose unit is obtained by combinations without producing programs individually in response to a trouble area. Furthermore the processing speed is increased owing to the pipeline processing where the reasoning mechanism has a multi-stage structure.
