PURPOSE:To automate unloading operation in a device in which a number of plate-shaped works are mounted on racks for the use in surface processing works, by improving racks and holders, and by furnishing a work retaining and a demounting mechanism. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of transverse members 5 are provided in order to mount a number of works W on racks J, and holders h in a great number each consisting of a pair of rod-shaped resilient members 6 are installed on the transverse members 5. Movable base 16 of the receiving and standing mechanism 18 of a retaining mechanism is set horizontal to pinch works W one after another, and upright attitude is attained by a motor etc., and after the work W is set in the holder h, the retaining mechanism is put apart to forward the rack J to the processing stage. Then the works W are transferred to a demounting mechanism one after another and pinched while the rack is in upright attitude, and then the works take horizontal attitude to be sent to the release position. Then the works W are collected. This will provide a well automated operation of work processing and an enhanced working efficiency.
