CONSTITUTION:Input data stored at an original data memory 3 are scanned in the horizontal direction, the number of scanning in the horizontal direction goes to be the size 'N' including the reference point mark completely, and from then, operation is started, all four peripheral sides of a rectangular area NXN are white picture elements, for the area where black picture elements in the area are a threshold or above set beforehand, prescribed features are extracted and reference points are detected. Thus, from the picture data stored at the original data memory, an NXN rectangular area 5 is successively cut, a projecting histogram in the horizontal direction and vertical direction is calculated and inspected. Thus, a reference point mark is detected and reference point coordinates can be extracted.
