PURPOSE:To attain phase discrimination sufficiently without using an index signal for chrominance components separation by generating the index signal only at the adjustment of a camera, storing information obtained at that time and supplying a voltage waveform to a static defraction electrode so that a slave beam polarizing characteristics coincides with the arraying position of the stripe filter. CONSTITUTION:At the adjustment of the camera, only red light is applied as image pickup light and an almost equivalent signal is obtained in a period other than the passage of an electronic beam through an optoelectric conversion surface corresponding to a cyane stripe filter 12 is obtained from an image pickup tube 30. The image pickup screen of the image pickup tube 30 is divided into small sections and a polarized voltage waveform is formed by a polarized voltage waveform generator 28 so that the output of the red channel is maximum and the output of the blue channel is minimum and the voltage waveform corresponding to the section concerned is stored in a storage element 29. Thus, precise phase discrimination can be attain without using an index signal all over the area by executing said adjustment and then driving the camera.
