PURPOSE:To provide a heating unit that utilizes solar energy and can be used repeatedly by sealing an organic compound that excites a photo-isomerization reaction and a reverse reaction catalyst that can be separated from said organic compound in a solar light transmissive vessel. CONSTITUTION:An organic compound such as norbonadiene, etc. that excites to photo- isomerization and a reverse reaction catalyst, anti-side reaction agent, and solvent added to said organic compound are air-tightly sealed in a bag 1 that is transmissive to solar light. In the bag 1 the reverse reaction catalyst 2 is collected at one section of the bag 1 and a pinch cock 3 is employed to close that section. If the reverse reaction catalyst 2 is separated from said organic compound and exposed to solar light, the organic compound goes through photo-isomerization reaction and accumulates energy. Then, when the pinch cock 3 is opened as needed to bring the organic compound in contact with the reverse reaction catalyst 2, the organic compound returns to its original state and develops heat. In this process high temperature heat is obtained if a reverse reaction catalyst of high performance is used, and low temperature is obtained over a long period of time if a reverse reaction catalyst of low performance is used. Thus, a heating unit such as a pocket heater that can be used repeatedly is obtained. |
