PURPOSE:To shorten an access time by checking a directory in file unit and rearranging data so that track numbers and sector numbers are successive in one file. CONSTITUTION:When files B and E are deleted and a new file F which capacity is larger than that of the file B and smaller than the total capacity of the files B and E is written, the file B is deleted before the file F is written and files C and D are rearranged closely without leaving any empty area between the files C and D. Thus, the rearrangement is performed and the file F begins to be written at the area of the final file D on the rearranged track T6.
