PURPOSE:To prevent injury to high-temp. opposite materials and to improve seizure resistance as well as wear resistance by heat-treating cast iron in which C and Si content is limited so as to disperse spheroidal graphite into a martensite matrix. CONSTITUTION:The spheroidal graphite cast iron which satisfies C+0.85Si=4.3-6.8wt% is cast. The cast iron is hardened and tempered to form a homogeneous structure of martensite matrix, into which the spheroidal graphite is dispersed. The high-temp. sliding material made of this cast iron does not injure high-temp. opposite materials and also it excels in seizure resistance as well as wear resistance.
