PURPOSE:To obtain a composition of a five-membered heterocyclic compound polymer simply and inexpensively, by bringing a solution of a five-membered heterocyclic compound into contact with inorganic compound particles impregnated with an oxidizing agent. CONSTITUTION:As said oxidizing agents, inorganic acids such as sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid and nitric acid and compounds known as Lewis acids (e.g., chlorides or sulfates of iron or titanium) are effective. Examples of the inorganic compound particles as a support include oxides, hydroxides and carbonates of metals, and, especially, magnesia, alumina, iron oxides and silica are desirable. Examples of said five-membered heterocyclic compounds include pyrrole, furan, thiophene and their derivatives. As the solvents used when said five- membered heterocyclic compound is brought into contact with the inorganic compound particles impregnated with the oxidizing agent, aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons are desirable. The temperature in said contact may be room temperature and the contact time is arbitrarily determined so that the proportion of the five-membered heterocyclic compound polymer may have a desired value.
