PURPOSE:To prevent slip accidents of a vehicle on an icy road, by actuating a main brake pedal and an emergency brake pedal during braking, to actuate a main brake and to make pawls in an emergency stopping device into press- contact with the ground surface. CONSTITUTION:When an emergency brake pedal 29 is depressed during a vehicle running on an icy road surface, a main brake pedal 33 is also depressed. Accordingly, a main brake pedal 33 is also operated. Simultaneously an emergency brake air valve 21 is opened to feed compressed air into an air cylinder 19 which therefore extends to an expandable member 10. A pawl member 15 attached to the front end of the expandable member 10 is made into press- contact with the ground surface. With this arrangement, the occurrence of a slip is prevented upon braking on a snow covered road. |
