A production apparatus for multi-string puppets has at least one puppet (1) suspended on strings, whose front legs (2) and/or rear legs (4) are pivotable relative to the body of the puppet (1), a mechanism (8) raising and lowering the strings of the puppet (1) by defined distances and in a defined sequence, which is connected to a drive, and a floor (9) moving under the puppet (1) substantially in the direction of the longitudinal median plane of the puppet (1), on which the feet (3, 4) of the puppet (1) are supported. In order to simplify the mechanism for moving the strings while achieving a lifelike movement sequence for the puppet, the latter is suspended on two strings (6, 7) in its longitudinal median plane, of which the first string (6) engages on the body of the puppet (1) in front of the centre of gravity of the puppet and the second string (7) behind the centre of gravity of the puppet, and these strings (6, 7) are attached to the arms (12, 13) of a two-armed lever which can be driven to pivot about an axis (11) extending transversely to the longitudinal median plane of the puppet (1). <IMAGE>
