PURPOSE:To select the desired one out of the displayed Chinese words including related words having similar pronunciations and at the same time to attain the input of Chinese sentences, by providing a correspondence chart showing the relationship among similar pronunciations to change the first phonetic symbol string into a similar one and securing the reference to a converting dictionary. CONSTITUTION:An input part 1 which contains a pin-in key 1a to input the phonetic symbol strings of Chinese words is provided together with a buffer part 2 which holds temporarily the input data 100, a converting part 3 which converts a pin-in character string into a Chinese character string, a dictionary part 4 including a converting dictionary 4a which shows the correspondence between the pin-in character string and a Chinese character string, and a similar pin-in table 4b showing the relationship among similar pronunciations, a display control part 5, and a display part 6. The dictionary 4a contains a header 11, that is, a gathering of the phonetic symbol string showing the pronumciations of Chinese words, and the description 12 serving as a group of Chinese character strings including the homonyms corresponding to each phonetic symbol string. In other words, the description 12 storing a group of Chinese character strings corresponding to the header 11 storing the pin-in.
