PURPOSE:To easily obtain a metallic chromium formed body having prescribed density and tensile strength and excellent in malleability and ductility by subjecting high-purity metallic chromium after vacuum treatment to rolling and annealing under prescribed conditions. CONSTITUTION:Metallic chromium of >=99.9% purity is sealed in a hermetically sealed vessel to undergo vacuum treatment, which is rolled at 600-1,000 deg.C at 50-80% draft by means of hot grooved roll, followed by slow cooling and annealing at 800-1,000 deg.C. In this way, high-purity metallic chromium formed body having >=95% relative density and >=20kg/mm<2> tensile strength can be obtained.
