PURPOSE:To form holograms in the same direction in contact by forming a hologram on a hologram recording medium and then forming a protection film on its surface, applying a hologram recording medium, and forming the 2nd hologram. CONSTITUTION:The PVCz horogram recording medium is applied on a transparent substrate 17 made of glass, plastic, etc., and exposed to generation light beams 11 and 12, and a development process is carried out to form a plane wave hologram H1. An Si-based coating material is applied by, for example, spin coating over the hologram H1 to form the protection film 18 of about 1mum in thickness. Further, a PVCz-based hologram recording medium is applied thereupon and exposed to generation light beams 12 and 13 and a development process is carried out to form a plane hologram H2'. The influence of a chemical treatment in the developing process of the hologram H2' never extends to the hologram H1 because the Si-based coating film 18 is present. Thus, a two-layer hologram is formed.
