Process for the regulation of a bivalent heating installation with a boiler installation with, monitored by a boiler thermostat, burner, mixing valve with mixing valve servomotor, heat distribution system connected to the boiler installation via the mixing valve, heat pump installation and electronic, weather-operated regulating device. Depending upon the outside temperature, the regulating device regulates the heating water forward run temperature of the heat distribution system according to a set point set by a heating curve, the heating water return run being supplied to the mixing valve via the heat pump installation. The heat pump can be activated and deactivated. Moreover, the mixing valve servomotor is controlled by opening pulses and closing pulses of a regulator of the regulating device until in an open position or closed position respectively. Both the heating pump installation and the burner of the boiler installation are controlled (indirectly or directly) by the opening pulses or closing pulses of the regulator for the mixing valve servomotor. When the burner is switched off by the mixing valve, the heat pump installaltion is activated and deactivated corresponding to positions of the mixing valve and thus according to the heat requirement of the heat distribution system. By special settings of the mixing valve, the burner is switched on or off, and more particularly switched on by an open position of the mixing valve, which can no longer eliminate the heat emission of the heat pump, via the regulating device, by raising the heating water forward run temperature, and switched off by a closed position.
