PURPOSE:To increase the number of dots of a character which has been displayed and recorded, and to improve the resolution by placing a band-shaped electrode group which has been formed on a transparent sheet of the surface and the reverse side, so that it is not superposed in a reflection-like position with regard to a plate-shaped light transmissive porcelain. CONSTITUTION:The number of dots of a character which has been displayed and recorded is increased, and the resolution is improved by placing a band- shaped electrode group 3 which has been provided on the surface and the reverse side of a plate-shaped light transmissive porcelain 1, so that it is not superposed to each other in a reflection-like position. In this way, direct recording, display, holding and erasing of information can be executed, the power is scarcely consumed, and the constitution is also simplified.
