PURPOSE:To obtain a polyamide having excellent dimensional stability, durable to high-temperature baking without causing mold shrinkage and linear expansion and useful as an exterior part for automobile, by carrying out the polycondensation of a mixture of a specific alicyclic diamine and a straight- chain aliphatic diamine with isophthalic acid or nylon salt. CONSTITUTION:The objective polyamide can be produced by the polycondensation of (A) a mixture of (a) 95-65(wt)% one or more alicyclic diamines of formula (R1 and R2 are H or methyl; in the geometrical isomer of amino group and carbon atom occupying 1,4-site of two cyclohexane rings, the amount of trans-trans configuration is >=30mol% and that of cis-cis configuration is <=20mol%) and (b) 5-35% one or more 6-12C straight-chain aliphatic diamines and (B) essentially equimolar amount of a mixture of isophthalic acid or a nylon salt based on said diamine mixture. The aliphatic diamine is preferably hexamethylenediamine.
