A rotating electric machine is provided with a stator and a rotor, wherein: said stator has a stator core and an armature winding; and said rotor has a rotor core and a plurality of permanent magnets. The rotor core forms a magnetic air gap portion between the stator and the rotor core and is disposed around the shaft. The permanent magnets are projected in the rotational axis direction from an end surface of the rotor core. The rotating electric machine is further provided with a plurality of magnet holding portions provided on parts of the permanent magnets projected from the end surface of the rotor core, wherein a space is provided between said magnet holding portions. |
