When a purchaser is at a cash check-out, the price of each item purchased is recorded on the cash register which at the same time erases the anti-theft code marking. The cashier is able to verify that this has occurred, since the cash register emits an appropriate confirmatory sound. - This means that where a customer has purchased goods in one shop in accordance with this procedure, and then enters a further shop for purchases, he or she does not need to convince the personnel in the second shop that such previously acquired items have not been obtained illicitly. A further security measure incorporated is that should a shop client try to leave the establishment by an exit other than the correct check-out the anti-theft code marking would cause a signal to be emitted at the approach to the exit, permitting the immediate intervention of the shop management. |
