For the connection of bags (41) to a label (42), a thread loop (28) is formed by a loop lever (27), is presented to a winding head (29) provided with driving pins (32) and is held at the loop tip (30) by a clamping device (31). After the loop lever (27) has been removed and the loop (28) has been cut through by a clamping and cutting device (26), the winding head (29) forms a winding (35) which is transferred to a label strip (18) in a label-sealing station (21) by a winding-transport lever (33). During the return of the transport lever (33), the winding (35) is held by needles (40) which are pushed through the label strip (18) and the winding. After the label-sealing station (21) has been closed, three edges of the label are sealed, so as to form a pocket having an orifice, from which the loop tip (30) projects. The latter serves for connecting the label (42) to a bag (41), two respective connecting points being formed, with the result that a reliable connection between the bag (41) and label (42) is achieved, in contrast to a single-thread connection. <IMAGE>
