PURPOSE:To improve the retrieving efficiency of documents by putting the identifying information into the document data to show that a part of the document data serves as a key word. CONSTITUTION:The control code keys 21 and 23 show the heads of key words 10 and 11; while the control code keys 22 and 24 show the ends of those key words. Thus the control codes showing the head and the end of a key word are stored in the document data. Therefore it is required just to perform comparisons of character strings on the basis of said control code in a document retrieving mode. Thus the document retrieving efficiency is improved compared with a conventional system where the document data codes are compared with each other for each character.
