PURPOSE:To easily set a character plate to an optional position in accordance with a printing position of a character on printing paper, by attaching the character plate to a holder so that this holder can be rotated and moved in parallel on a CRT display surface. CONSTITUTION:In order to print a sentence to color printing paper 10, a character indicator 20 is installed to a CRT 11. On such a character indicator 20, a feed screw shaft 23 is erected so as to be freely rotatable on a rotary ring 22 which has formed a gear 21 on the outside periphery, and also a guide bar 24 is erected in parallel to said shaft. To these feed screw shaft 23 and guide bar, a holder 25 is attached so as to be freely movable, and it can be moved to a desired position along a display surface 12 of a CRT 11 in a state that a character plate 26 has been held. So as to print freely a character on a vertical position and a horizontal position, a gear 32 which is fixed to a motor 31 is engaged to the gear 21 of the rotary ring 22.
