PURPOSE:To obtain the title zeolite having excellent para-selectivity and high catalytic activity by adding hydrocarbons into a reaction mixture consisting of a silica source, an alumina source, an alkali source, tartaric acid, and water. CONSTITUTION:An alkali source such as NaOH and tartaric acid are dissolved in water, an alumina source such as an aq. soln. of sodium aluminate is added, and a uniform soln. is formed. A silica source such as silicic acid powder and hydrocarbons such as cyclohexane are gradually added to the liq. mixture while agitating to regulate the reaction mixture. The reaction mixture is charged in an autoclave, etc., hermetically sealed, and heated to carry out a reaction. High-purity pentasil-type aluminosilicate zeolite having excellent formability can be obtained by this method.
