摘要 PURPOSE:To reduce deterioration in workability due to central segregation by regulating the height and width of concentration peaks in a central segregation zone, particularly in the zonal segregation of Mn, to a specific value or below, respectively, at the time of manufacturing high-carbon steel wire rods by using a continuously cast billet as a raw material. CONSTITUTION:At the time of manufacturing high-carbon high-strength steel wires by subjecting a continuously cast billet to wiredrawing, a steel stock as raw material having a composition containing 0.6-1.0% C, 0.1-2.0% Si, and 0.5-1.1% Mn and also containing, if necessary, 0.01-0.1%, in total, of 1 or >=2 kinds among 0.05-1.5% Cr, 0.05-1.5% Ni, 0.01-0.5% Mo, and 0.01-0.5% V as material-strengthening elements and 1 or >=2 elements among Al, Ti, Nb, and Zr for improving ductility by forming carbides and nitrides is used. Moreover, the width (omega) of an Mn segregation zone at 1.2% of a steel wire rod is regulated to <=5mum, so that deterioration in wiredrawability can be prevented.
