The bristles (19) are often inclined in the transverse and longitudinal directions of the brush. Corresponding to this inclination, during the brush manufacture the brush body (18) and tool (7) have to be inclined relative to one another. The inclination in the longitudinal direction of the brush is brought about by inclining (6) the tool (7). The inclination in the transverse direction of the brush is brought about by inclining (22) the brush body (18). The brush can be moved horizontally by a transverse and longitudinal support (12 and 11 respectively), and both supports are height-adjustable (15). The tool (7) has an axial feed movement (9). The axis of inclination (26) of the tool and the axis of inclination (23) of the brush intersect. Inclination of the tool (7) and inclination of the brush (18) thus only result in inclination of the tool and the brush body relative to one another. The transverse and longitudinal feed movements of the brush relative to the tool are carried out from hole to hole in the brush body by the transverse and longitudinal slides (12, 11). The vertical feed movement of the brush relative to the tool is carried out from hole to hole by the vertical adjustment (15). By dividing the inclination movements onto the tool (7) and the brush (18) and using straight supports (11, 12), a compact machine can be achieved.
