PURPOSE:To avert the injury of means for conveying a strip by progressing two pieces a pair of threading bars which are united to one body in parallel by a pair of driving mechanisms on both sides of the normal moving locus of the strip. CONSTITUTION:The strip 9 is ridden on rotated circular cylindrical hearth rolls 14 and is inserted in a roller hearth type continuous heat treatment furnace 1 for the strip from an inlet 6 thereof toward an outlet 7. Grooved wheels 22 are fixed to both side parts of the rolls 14 where the moving locus 12 of the strip 9 in the normal state is averted to form supporting parts 23 for supporting the threading bars 25 thereof. The driving mechanisms for progressing a pair of the bars 25 positioned on both sides in the upper part position of the moving locus 12 are constituted of such supporting parts 23. The bars 25 are progressed from the inlet 6 toward the outlet 7 by the driving mechanisms and the strip 9 connected thereto is progressed from the inlet 6 toward the outlet 7. The contact of the bars 25 with the means for conveying the strip 9 is thus obviated and the injury of the rolls 14 is prevented.
