PURPOSE:To suppress the formation of trihalometane, by a method wherein raw water flowing in a water purifying plant is oxidized by a Fenton's reagent and the oxidized water is subjected to ozone treatment in an acidic region as it is. CONSTITUTION:TOC and COD of raw water are preliminarily measured in an oxidizing process using a Fenton's reagent to adjust the pH thereof to 3-5. Hydrogen peroxide is added to raw water so that the oxygen atom of hydrogen peroxide becomes equivalent to TOC and COD. Subsequently, a ferric salt is added to raw water in an amount coming to 3-5 times the oxygen atom of hydrogen peroxide as an iron atom. In an ozone treatment process, the reaction liquid obtained in the Fenton oxidizing process is introduced into an ozone oxidizing tower from the top part thereof as it is without being neutralized and about 1-10mg/l of ozone generated by an ozonizer is injected in said tower from the bottom part thereof to perform ozone treatment continuously. By this method, tap water having high-sanitary safety is obtained.
