PURPOSE:To control nonvolatile content caused by catalytic activity of active china clay by packing the liquid to be treated in a packing column in initial contact of solid liquid in a packing column, forced by stirring the liquid to be treated and packing active china clay. CONSTITUTION:Liquid to be treated 4 is packed in an active china clay packing column 1 provided with a filtering sand bed 2 at the bottom through a loading tube 5. Next, nitrogen gas 8 is supplied trough a supply tube 9, and while the liquid to be treated is forced by stirred, active china clay 6 is loaded and packed from a manhole of the top of a packing column. At the time of loading and packing active clay, the temperature of liquid to be treated is measured by a thermocouple 3 but any rise of temperature by adsorption heat is scarcely recognized. Then, while supply of nitrogen gas is discontinued and the liquid to be treated 4 is supplied from the loading tube to the packing column 1, the same quantity of treated liquid 10 is discharged out of a treated liquid discharge tube 11 and a continuous operation is carried out.
