NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I [Ar is (substituted)phenyl, naphthyl or pyridyl; His is L-histidyl; Y is -O- or -NH-; R is alkyl, cycloalkyl or halogenated alkyl] and acid addition salt thereof. EXAMPLE:Isopropyl (2RS, 3S)-3-{N-[bis(2-fluorobenzyl)acetyl]-L-histidyl}amino-4- cyclohexyl-2-hydroxybutyrate. USE:Useful as a remedy for hypertension, capable of being orally administered and having human renin-inhibitory action. PREPARATION:A carboxylic acid expressed by formula II is condensed with a compound expressed by formula III [(L) on the carbon represents carbon having L configuration] using diphenylphosphoric acid azide to provide the aimed compound.
