An iron electrode comprised of an active substance introduced into a substrate. The active substance is a fine iron powder, the particles of which are at least partially covered with a permeable and porous copper deposit. The active substance is introduced by kneading into a porous conductor structure. Also a process of manufacturing such an iron electrode.
