PURPOSE:To improve the fuel consumption, by regulating the hydraulic pressure in a first line by means of a control means through a first pressure regulation valve and controlling such that the steady deviation between an actual speed ratio and a target speed ratio matches with a target deviation obtained according to the operating condition of vehicle. CONSTITUTION:In a hydraulic controller comprising a first pressure regulation valve 48, a speed change control valve 44 and a second pressure regulation valve 58, steady deviation between an actual speed ratio and a target speed ratio decreases as the hydraulic pressure in the first line increases. Said steady deviation is regulated to match with a target deviation obtained according to the operating condition of vehicle through feedback control. Since the hydraulic pressure in the first line is controlled continuously to the lowest level necessary for respective operating conditions, drive loss of pump and engine power loss are reduced resulting in the considerable improvement of fuel consumption of vehicle.
