The massaging surface carries a number of fixed and retractible studs, comprising a hollow piston in a cylinder with an internal herical spring. The aperture in the centre of the annular protruding tip of the piston is closed by the tapered end of a central fixed rod on which the spring is wound. Pressure on the tip repels the piston against the resistance of the spring, so that the mating conical faces of the tip and end respectively move apart, allowing liq. soap to flow from the interior of the cylinder on the skin. Openings in the cylinder wall allow the liq. to be replenished from the surrounding reservoir.
