PROLINE DERIVATIVES AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

Proline derivatives of the formula (I): < IMG > (I) wherein R is an acyl group bonded to the .alpha.-amino group of amino acid and is selected from the group consisting of cyclopropanecarbonyl, cyclohexanecarbonyl and adamantanecarbonyl groups; A is glycine, sarcosine or .alpha.-D-amino acid residue and has an .alpha.-carbonyl group that forms a thiol ester bond with a sulfur atom, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, and a process for producing the same are disclosed. The proline derivatives are useful for treating hypertension due to angiotension II, and as an agent to treat cardiac insufficience.
