<p>In a method of coating a surface, the surface is first cleaned to remove moss, algae, lichens, mud etc and degreased if necessary. A mix of polyvinyl acetate (PVA) and water is applied to the surface by means of a brush and, whilst the PVA/water mix is still wet, sand is blown on to the surface. After allowing the surface to dry a second and preferably relatively light application of a PVA/water mix is sprayed on. After the second PVA/water mix application has dried loose particles of the sand are removed, preferably by brushing, and the entire surface is then finally coated with a silicone-based water repellent solution.</p> |
