METHOD FOR CASTING POLYMERIC GELS FROM VOLATILE MIXTURES OF MONOMERS IN OPEN MOLDS AND AN EQUIPMENT FOR PERFORMING THIS METHOD

A method for casting polymeric gels from volatile mixtures of monomers in open molds and to an equipment for performing this method. In the method, the same concentrations of volatile components of the mixture are adapted in a protective gas above the bare level which are in the equilibrium state above the monomer mixture at polymerization temperature. The equipment for performing the method consists of a main piping branch leading a pure protective gas into a polymerization apparatus and at least one auxiliary piping branch for saturation the protective gas with a volatile component, which are formed by an inlet piping connected to a control valve for setting a constant volume flow-rate and further leading to a device for measurement of the flow rate, where their outlet pipings are connected in a common inlet entering the polymerization apparatus and a saturator for a pure volatile component of the monomer mixture is adapted in the auxiliary branch before the outlet piping.
