PURPOSE:To increase the storage capacity of multi-spindle head to stabilize the elevation, by providing an elevator adapted to couple with elevating rails, and an elevation drive means coupled with the elevator, and by arranging the guide member for guiding the elevator on elevation. CONSTITUTION:There are provided an elevator adapted to couple with first and second guide rails 5, 6, and an elevation drive means 63 coupled with the elevator 63, and there is stationarily arranged a guide member 84 for guiding the elevator 62 on elevation. Further, when the elevator 62 is driven for elevation, multi-spindle heads may be moved between the first and second guide rails 5, 6. Moreover, when an elevating rail 10 is moved to the second guide rail 6, one multi-spindle head stored on the second guide rail 6 is retracted outward so as to increase the storage capacity for multi-spindle heads and as well to simplify the arrangement of exchange operation for the multi-spindle heads. Further, the elevating rails 10, 18 are guided by the guide member 84 to stabilize the elevation of the multi-spindle head.
