PURPOSE:To enable printing on proper position, by moving the position of a printer head with respect to a mark applied onto an automatic sheet feeder and indicating the home position and setting the home position temporarily. CONSTITUTION:When an automatic sheet feeder 3 is fixed onto a printer 2, a mark 5 indicating the regular home position is matched with a notch in the upper end of a thermal head 4 so as to eliminate the fixing error. If they do not match, a program is started to display a message onto a screen, then the head 4 is moved to the right or left through key operation. When the head 4 is matched with the position of the mark 5, the position is determined by means of an execution key so as to set a temporal home position, to which the head 4 is moved, as the home position of said machine. Consequently, when a numeric character is printed to a proper position on a sheet, especially within a zip code column of a post card, it can be printed without shift and requiring no trial typing.
