PURPOSE:To obtain a general purpose coelostat which can be used as an equatorial, as well, by fixing axially a cylindrical polar axis to a vertical arm end of a hinged lever freely rotatably, and attaching a declination axis to the polar axis freely attachably and detachably so that the respective axes are orthogonal. CONSTITUTION:As for a hinged lever A, a vertical arm A3 and a horizontal arm A4 are fixed at about 100 deg. by using a base plate A1 as a supporting point, and said plate is fixed axially A2 to a supporting leg 2. At the top of the vertical arm A3, a supporting plate B1 is fixed, and to this plate, a polar axis P of a cylindrical body is fixed axially as freely rotatable. To a bottom hole B3 of the polar axis P, a declination axis is attached so as to be attachable and detachable in an angular relation in which both axes are orthogonal. To an axial lever B4 of the polar axis P, a U-shaped machine frame S1 is attached in parallel to the axis, and to its forked tip part, a pair of band-shaped vertical machine frames S2 are fixed in the middle part, and to both its ends, a machine frame S3 of a regular square whose inside is circular is fixed in parallel to the polar axis P, respectively. In the lower part of the machine frame S2, a circular mirror M1 is supported 10 freely rotatably, and to a forked lever of the base part of the parallel machine frame S1, a mirror M2 of the same diameter is supported 11 freely rotatably, and opposed to the mirror M1 at a necessary angle. In such a way, a general purpose coelostat can be constituted.
