PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for the specular finish of the reflecting surface of a cap while improving the optical sensitivity of a photodetector by previously mounting a reflecting plate having excellent reflectivity onto the inclined reflecting surface of the cap when a laser diode and the photodetector for monitor are protected in the cap. CONSTITUTION:A laser diode 2 is set up onto a substrate 1 through a block 3 having predetermined height and functioning as heat dissipation in combination, a photodetector 4 in low height is fitted where separate from the block 3, and these laser diode and photodetector are each connected to wirings not shown mounted to the surface of the substrate 1 by using metallic small-gage wires 5. An optical output hole 8 is formed on the diode 2 side and the element 4 side is covered with a cap 10 with an inclined reflecting surface regarding these parts, but normal specular finish is not conducted to an inclined face at that time and a reflecting plate 13 consisting of a glass substrate 14, the surface of which has an Al evaporated reflecting film 15, is stuck onto the surface of the inclined face. Accordingly, an optical output 7 is emitted from the hole 8, and beams 6 emitted to the reverse side are reflected by the reflecting plate 13 and projected to the photodetector 4 and beams 7 are controlled.
