PURPOSE:To correct a defective image and to display a correct image by comparing an image data which is brought a reference image to an image pickup and a prescribed image data to the reference image, detecting a defective position of an image in which both said data do not coincide and correcting the image data of a defective position from the image data before and after the defective position. CONSTITUTION:An error position detecting circuit 20 brings a prescribed reference image to an image pickup, and accumulates this image pickup image data in an image memory 4. In this state, this image data is compared with a prescribed image data corresponding to a reference image in a controller 6, and when both the image data do not coincide, it is decided to be a defective image, and its defective position is shown by '1', and an image position which is not defective is shown by '0'. A one- dimensional correcting circuit 30 accumulates a normal image data latched in a latching circuit 32 in the image memory 4, in case when a defective position data is '0' supplied from a detecting circuit 20 in a selector circuit 35, and accumulates an image data corrected by an adding circuit 34 in the image memory 4, in case when the defective position data is '1'. The image data which is accumulated in the image memory 4 is converted to an analog image signal by a D/A converter 5, and displayed on television monitors 9, 10.
