PURPOSE:To obtain accurate eccentric quantity to any lens, by performing the operation based on a specific formula between the spherical degree, astigmatic degree and astigmatic axial degree of a lens and prisms to be inspected. CONSTITUTION:Light sources 1a-1d are arranged on the circumference of the circle around an optical axis 1 at equal intervals and the positions of the light sources 1a-1d in an optical system are made almost conjugate with the small holes 9a-9d of the lens holding stand 9 provided at the position of a lens L to be inspected on a pinhole 3 by a condenser lens 2 and a collimator lens 4 both of which respectively have a back side focus and a front side focus. The position of the pinhole 3 is made conjugate with the surface of a position sensor 6 by the lens 4 and an image forming lens 5. From the coordinates value obtained from the position sensor 6, a computer 7 performs the operation based on formulae between the spherical degree S, astigmatic degree C and astigmatic axial degree theta of the lens L to be inspected and prisms PX, PY to calculate the spherical degree S, astigmatic degree C and astigmatic axial degree theta of the lens L to be inspected and the prisms PX, PY decomposed in the X-direction becoming the astigmatic axial degree theta and in the Y-direction crossing the same at a right angle.
