PURPOSE:To attain sure detection of the 0-th track with simple constitution by providing a recording area written in advance with a data to a part of each track of a disk and a non-recording area at its outer circumference. CONSTITUTION:A data write area is formed to a part of torus tracks 0, 1... of a magnetic disk, where a prescribe data is written in advance and an outer guard band OGB being a non-recording area is provided at the outside of a zone D1. Thus, a head is located onto the band OGB and moved inward and a track from which the data in the zone D1 is detected at first is discriminated as the 0-th track. Thus, the 0-th track is detected surely with simple constitution as above.
