PURPOSE:To eliminate the effect of an electromagnetic wave to be given from other heads by arranging a shield plate of partial cylindrical shape along the circumferential face of a magnetic recording disk. CONSTITUTION:A shield plate 6 is provided to a magnetic disk device whose operating mechanism to position the magnetic head to a magnetic recording disk into an enclosed case. The shield plate 6 has a partial cylindrical shape having a sufficiently large curved recessed face 7 in comparison with the thickness of the recording disk 1, arranged vertically to the recording disk 1 and supported by a proper support member 8. It is preferred to make the center axis of the curvature of the curved recess face 7 nearly coincident with the center axis of the recording disk 1. Since the shield plate 6 as above is arranged, the electromagnetic wave radiated from the other heads is absorbed effectively and the invasion of noise onto a read head 2 is prevented. Thus, the device with high accuracy is obtained.
