PURPOSE:To generate an Archimedean curve with no approximation given with a straight line, a circular arc, a parabola, etc., by using a device which fixes a work at the time of its cutting and controls the position of a tool by linear two axes to control the tangential speed at a fixed level against the work. CONSTITUTION:The start point of a Archimedean curve to be generated is defined as an origin and a straight line passing through said origin is supposed as an axis X with a straight line passing through and vertical to the axis X supposed as an axis Y respectively. Then the position coordinates (x) and (y) defined between a tool and a work by X and Y axes are set at the values shown by equations where an evolving angle constant and an developing angle of a curve are referred to as (a) and theta respectively together with a differential symbol referred to as d/dt. At the same time, the tangential speed of the contact between the tool and the work is prescribed at the fixed value V0. Wherein, A means a constant. Thus just a single working program suffices to shorten the program generating time and also to obtain a smooth working surface.
