APPLICATION OF OILING AGENT TO BRITTLE FIBER AND APPARATUS USED THEREFOR

PURPOSE:To facilitate handling of brittle fibers and prevent occurrence of mist in applying an oiling agent, by applying the oiling agent in the form of foams (bubbles) to fibers without mechanical contact. CONSTITUTION:An oiling agent is fed to a bubbling chamber 1 by a pump and a gas is jetted from an air blow-off outlet 7 such as diffuser stone, into an oiling agent to prepare a bubbly oiling agent. An oiling agent application chamber 3 communicating with the bubbling chamber 1 is filled with the bubbly oiling agent to pass filaments therethrough. Thereby the oiling agent is applied to the filaments without mechanical contact. The oiling agent application chamber is preferably provided just after collecting spun filaments for applying the oiling agent to the filaments as quickly as possible.
