PURPOSE:To transmit and receive a light beam at a high speed with simple constitution, by transmitting a signal and a clock by the highest data rate that can be detected by plural light tansmitting and receiving circuits. CONSTITUTION:A data from a reading part 1 is compressed by an MH encoder 2, continuous data are latched at every four picture elements by an S/P converting circuit 4, and LEDs 11-14 are brought to a pulse modulation. Subsequently, a data photodetected by photodiodes 17-20 of a receiving circuit is demodulated by a receiving circuit 6, and thereafter, serialized by a P/S converting circuit 7, and reproduced to a binary image data by an MH decoder 8. On the other hand, the second clock is reproduced by photodiodes 21, 22, a data clock of about 2kHz is reproduced by a clock reproducing circuit 10, and an image is reproduced by a recording part 9.
