PURPOSE:To prevent the tone of an image from being made soft by incorporating silver halide particles contg. >=80mol% silver chloride, prescribed amts. of a specified sensitizing dye, a sulfur sensitizer and a good compd. into at least one of silver halide emulsion layers. CONSTITUTION:Silver halide particles contg. >=80mol% silver chloride, a sensitizing dye represented by formula I, a sulfur sensitizer and a gold compd. are incorporated into at least one of silver halide emulsion layers. The amt. of the sensitizing dye and that of the sulfur sensitizer and 5X10<-6>-3X10<-3>mol per 1mol silver halide and the amt. of the gold compd. is 5X10<-7>-5X10<-3>mol per 1mol silver halide. In the formula I, each of X1-X4 is H, halogen atom or the like, each of R1 and R2 is alkyl group, X<-> is a counter anion and n=0 or 1. Very rapid processing is enabled and the tone of an image can be prevented from being made soft. |
